“Texas Lawyer” Newspaper Covers Bobbitt Law lawsuit on Front Page

The state of Texas’ leading legal news and information source for attorneys covered a story about Bobbitt Law’s lawsuit against the cities of Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington to obtain court records which should be available to the public. Bobbitt law argues that the cities are intentionally delay providing traffic ticket information so the general public doesn’t know they have options other than just paying their ticket. Bobbitt Law further argues the incentive for the cities to prevent disclosing this information is so they can make more money for the city off ticket income.

Second Highest Court in Nation Agrees to Hear Bobbitt Law Case Against Cities Withholding Public Information

The Federal Court of Appeals out of New Orleans (the second highest court in nation for Texas next to the U.S. Supreme Court) agreed to hear oral argument from attorneys on both sides. The court has discretion to dismiss the case without oral argument or make a ruling based solely on the written briefs filed with the court. The court’s decision to hear oral argument indicates they have an interest in what these court are doing, or not doing, to comply with constitutional access to court records.
